Lessons From Wifey

It’s Day 3 of the Thank You Mom project, sponsored by P&G, and I’m excited to introduce Lorraine of Ask Wifey to those of you who may not know her.  My experience with Lorraine is different than the others because I met her IRL before I started reading her blog. We hung out briefly last year at BlogHer ’09 and I knew from then that she was “good peoples” as they say.

{I still laugh out loud when I think of our conversation about cooking dinner for our husbands. And though I wish I could share it with you, she has sworn all of us who were there to secrecy!}

Once I got back home, her blog Ask Wifey, went into regular rotation on my blog reading schedule.  I like that she focuses on issues related to marriage in a funny, positive, real, and encouraging way. She’s even an expert on the subject. I received a copy of her book Help! I’m a Newlywed…What Do I Do Now? at Blogalicious 2009, and admired her knack for telling it like it is, on such an important subject that often gets neglected.  I recently gave a copy to one of my best friends as part of her wedding gift (and Lorraine was nice enough to autograph it for me!)

And there are many more reasons to admire Lorraine: she is a wonderful and proud mother; she is a loving wife; and she is committed to being healthy and to motivating others to do the same. It might sound simple, but it seems like she has a firm grasp on the important things in life and throws herself wholeheartedly into being present in each.  On top of it all, she communicates all of that through her warm and light-hearted posts.

So today, I’m thanking Lorraine of Ask Wifey for reminding me to embrace life, to put maximum effort into my marriage and to make my health and fitness a priority…and to strive to do it all with a wink and a smile!
